Job Overview
This role involves overseeing daily shift activities within Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and Laundry departments. The manager ensures that guestrooms, public, and employee areas are maintained clean and orderly by coordinating and supervising staff. Accountability through inspections and corrective actions are key responsibilities. The position also aims to maintain high guest and staff satisfaction while managing operational budgets effectively.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should either have a high school diploma or GED coupled with a minimum of two years’ pertinent experience in housekeeping or a comparable field, or possess a 2-year degree from an accredited university in related fields such as Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, or Business Administration without prior work experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate guest room status promptly to the Front Desk.
- Perform daily inspections of guest rooms and assign cleaning tasks based on immediate needs and upcoming check-outs or discharges.
- Manage inventory control ensuring supplies are adequately stocked.
- Implement and oversee thorough inspection programs for all guest and public spaces.
- Understand and manage the departmental budget to meet or exceed financial goals.
- Ensure employees have necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
- Supervise daily housekeeping shifts, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Take part in departmental meetings, consistently communicating goals to achieve desired outcomes.
- Train new room attendants using available tools and provide ongoing training as needed.
- Foster open and collaborative relationships with staff, ensuring clear understanding of expectations.
- Schedule workforce based on operational needs and track attendance accurately.
- Apply property policies fairly and maintain disciplinary procedures in line with standard and local operating procedures.
- Maintain staff levels to balance guest service quality, operational demands, and budget objectives.
- Monitor employee service behaviors and provide constructive feedback.
- Encourage employee recognition and participate in related programs.
- Promote open communication, addressing employee concerns proactively.
- Engage in progressive discipline and celebrate team successes publicly.
- Model positive guest relations and embody the brand’s service culture.
- Collaborate on corrective actions to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Empower team members to deliver excellent customer service consistently.
- Drive focus on continual improvement of service performance through meetings and initiatives.
- Respond to guest complaints or issues with effective resolution.
