Student Care Teacher

Work Location

APSN Student Care Centre located in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist special needs students and children with their activities throughout the Student Care Centre’s operation hours.
• Supervise and actively engage with students to support their development physically, mentally, and socially.
• Help maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the Student Care Centre facility.
• Collaborate with the Centre Supervisor to ensure smooth daily operations and contribute to achieving enrolment targets and financial goals.
• Support students with their academic, social, personal hygiene, music, art, and motor skills development as outlined by APSN’s curriculum.
• Conduct weekly premises inspections to ensure compliance with APSN and regulatory (MSF) standards.
• Recommend and assist in sourcing instructional materials and teaching aids.
• Ensure proper food handling and hygiene practices aligned with HACCP standards when administering meals to students.
• Work jointly with the Centre Supervisor to safeguard each child’s safety and well-being.
• Observe children to detect any health or emotional issues and assess their progress regularly.
• Maintain a safe, stimulating, and enjoyable environment for the students.
• Assist with administrative tasks including student enrolment, expense management, manpower planning, and other operational matters.
• Perform classroom teaching duties following the APSN-developed curriculum.
• Liaise with parents and teaching staff concerning behavioral or learning challenges, recommending behavioral modification and learning support methods.
• Report Student Care Centre matters to school leadership as per Ministry of Education requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum Diploma qualification with 1-3 years of relevant experience in the social service sector; fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Preferably hold a Diploma in community and social services or an equivalent/higher certificate.
• Possession of WSQ Introductory Student Care Centre certification is advantageous.
• First Aid certification (CPR & AED) and WSQ Basic Food Hygiene training are additional benefits.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively within a team.
