Student Services and Administration

Role Overview
This full-time, permanent Student Advisor role is based at AUT’s City Campus within the Disability Support Service (DSS). DSS supports disabled learners to access and thrive in their studies by providing tailored accommodations and advice. The Advisor works closely with students and staff to foster inclusive learning environments and reports to the Disability Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualised disability support and comprehensive case management for students.
- Assess student needs and develop Academic Accommodation Plans and relevant supports.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of provided supports throughout academic terms.
- Adopt a holistic approach to case management, identifying student needs and facilitating appropriate referrals.
- Assist academic staff in implementing accommodations effectively.
- Provide guidance on accessibility, assistive technologies, and promote universal design principles.
- Maintain precise student records and assist in generating service reports.
- Empower students with skills that benefit their progress beyond AUT.
- Forge strong collaborations with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student outcomes.
- Represent the service at events such as AUT LIVE and other promotional activities.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a related advisory or support role.
- Current practicing certificate in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or equivalent; or Registered NZCER Level C test user status.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
- Experience operating within tertiary education, community support, or customer service settings.
- Demonstrated passion for facilitating student success and well-being.
- Strong commitment to excellence in service delivery and customer care.
- Understanding of case management models in advisory support contexts.
- Proficiency with technology platforms and relationship management software.
- Dedication to equity, diversity, inclusion, and alignment with AUT’s Te Aronui framework.
Additional Information
- Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week, full-time.
- Location: Onsite at AUT’s City Campus, Student Hub.
- Salary Range: NZD 84,538 to 89,677 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications.
- Start Date: Immediate availability preferred.
