About the Role
Jennings O'Donovan & Partners is looking for an experienced Structural Design Engineer specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure design. This role is primarily based in Sligo, Ireland, and involves working on projects for Water Utilities and Contractors. The company is part of the RSK Group, a prominent engineering consultancy focused on renewable energy and water treatment solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce structural engineering designs that adhere to Eurocodes and specific utility standards such as Uisce Éireann and UK AMP8.
- Prepare thorough engineering calculations and detailed technical or design documentation throughout various project phases, including feasibility and detailed design stages.
- Support Senior Engineers throughout the complete project lifecycle, particularly in drafting technical specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams encompassing Civil, MEP, and Process disciplines to ensure cohesive design integration.
- Conduct on-site inspections and structural surveys, compile comprehensive reports, and maintain compliance with company quality assurance protocols.
- Use industry-standard design and modeling software to generate precise and efficient structural outputs.
- Engage in mentorship opportunities to gain guidance from senior staff, while also mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 8 qualification or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- At least four years of relevant experience in a design consultancy, particularly in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency in structural design of water-retaining structures, applying Eurocodes and British Standards effectively.
- Familiarity with Uisce Éireann regulations or experience working within the UK AMP framework is highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to work directly with clients and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Excellent teamwork, strong interpersonal capabilities, and the ability to meet tight deadlines with proactive task management.
- Fluency in both verbal and written English communication.
