Role Overview

Based in Budbrooke, Warwick, the Street Works Coordinator will be a vital member of Balfour Beatty Living Places' Planning and Permitting team. This role centers on managing street works permits to ensure highway maintenance and improvement projects are executed safely, in compliance with legislation, and on schedule. This position offers a collaborative environment engaging with operational teams, local authorities, and various stakeholders to coordinate street works effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire street works permitting process, from initial application to formal closure.
  • Prepare and manage permit applications, licenses, and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs).
  • Track permit progression and ensure that all necessary actions meet required deadlines.
  • Coordinate permit modifications, refusals, project initiations, reinstatements, and permit closures.
  • Generate daily reports on permits and provide timely updates to operational teams.
  • Work collaboratively with Agents, Supervisors, and Operations Managers to guarantee that works are properly planned and permitted.
  • Communicate proactively with local authorities, clients, and external parties regarding permit obligations.
  • Maintain up-to-date master schedules and accurate permit documentation.
  • Identify and escalate potential risks, issues, or impacts to project timelines to the appropriate teams.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrable experience handling street works permits throughout their lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), permit schemes, TTRO procedures, and related street works legislation.
  • Proficiency using industry-standard platforms such as Street Manager, Confirm, or equivalents.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to 'right-first-time' submissions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in highways maintenance or within local authority-driven contracts.
  • Understanding of utility coordination and traffic management protocols.
  • Familiarity with planning software tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Experience liaising with supply chain partners and external contractors.
