Job description
Overview
We are looking for a diligent Storekeeper responsible for overseeing the receipt, safekeeping, documentation, and distribution of all company materials, consumables, tools, and equipment. The store supports activities such as fit-out, renovation, and emergency maintenance, requiring availability of critical items at short notice while maintaining optimal stock levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive deliveries based on approved purchase orders, checking quantity, specifications, and condition; issue goods received notes, quarantine or reject non-conforming items, and promptly report any shortages or damages to Procurement and Finance departments.
- Organize storage with labeled clear locations and controlled access, safely manage hazardous materials like paints and gas cylinders, and maintain a tool store by recording issuance and returns linked to specific individuals.
- Distribute materials only upon approved requisitions linked to jobs or work orders; facilitate urgent after-hours material distribution during emergency maintenance following agreed protocols; manage returns of unused materials and register them against originating jobs.
- Keep precise stock records for all inventory movements, monitor and maintain stock levels within defined minimum and maximum thresholds, raise replenishment requests for critical items, carry out regular cycle counts and complete stock audits in coordination with Finance, and investigate discrepancies.
- Identify obsolete, slow-moving, or scrap items and seek approval for disposal.
- Perform any reasonable additional duties assigned by the Procurement Supervisor consistent with this role's scope.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in store management procedures including receiving, storage, issuing, and stock control.
- Knowledge of construction, electrical, plumbing, and finishing materials and tooling.
- Competence in maintaining accurate inventory records using inventory software, bin cards, and Excel.
- Understanding of safe handling and storage practices for hazardous materials.
- Integrity and trustworthiness in managing company assets.
- Strong organizational skills ensuring a clean and systematic store environment.
- Assertiveness to deny material issuance lacking authorized documentation.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with site staff, procurement, and finance teams.
Languages
- Proficient in Arabic (mandatory).
- Working knowledge of English (mandatory).
- Knowledge of Hindi or Urdu is an added advantage.
Experience and Education
- Between 2 to 4 years of experience in storekeeping or as a stores assistant.
- Experience gained within contracting, construction, engineering consultancy, or facility management sectors.
- Familiarity with handling construction, MEP, finishing materials, and tool stores.
- Secondary school certificate or diploma required.
- Forklift certification and a valid Saudi driving license are beneficial but not mandatory.
Reporting Lines
The Storekeeper will report directly to the Procurement Supervisor with a functional reporting relationship to the Chief Accountant concerning stock counts and reconciliations.
