Overview

At Hot Topic, we thrive on passion for music, pop culture, and delivering exceptional in-store experiences for both customers and staff. We are searching for a Store Manager who will champion the brand and energize the store. As a leader, you will drive the store’s success across sales, recruitment, team development, and performance management. You will be a versatile retail expert who thrives in a dynamic environment, committed to nurturing talent and providing top-tier customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales goals and contribute to meeting or exceeding store financial targets.
  • Recruit, train, and retain an enthusiastic, collaborative team to lead store operations alongside you.
  • Engage customers and fans by fostering brand excitement via social media, store apps, and personal interactions.
  • Maintain efficient store operations through structured organization, appropriate delegation, promoting autonomy, and prioritizing customer-centric selling.
  • Monitor and manage shrinkage/loss prevention, payroll budgeting, staff scheduling, and external factors influencing business outcomes.
  • Communicate regularly with regional retail leadership and corporate teams, sharing trends and customer insights.
  • Analyze sales data to inform and adjust strategies to meet sales targets.
  • Manage company assets responsibly, enforcing policies, embracing new technologies, and controlling inventory and expenses prudently.
  • Merchandise the store attractively using planograms and ensure timely execution of promotions.
  • Mentor and cultivate a strong team by providing feedback, recognition, and building leadership potential among staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years managing retail store operations, with demonstrated success in team leadership and operational proficiency (including communication, recruitment, payroll, scheduling, reporting, and merchandising).
  • High school diploma or GED required; further education is advantageous.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced retail environment, comfortable managing change and unexpected challenges.
  • Genuine interest or openness towards pop culture fandoms and current music trends.
  • Physical capability to navigate store environments, merchandise products using approved equipment, and handle merchandise up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
