Position Overview

In the role of Stockperson/Cartpusher, you play a crucial part in maintaining a secure, orderly, and inviting shopping environment for customers. Your duties include retrieving shopping carts from parking areas and store surroundings, then returning them to their designated spots following established procedures. This position emphasizes safety and friendly customer interaction while fostering skills in retail operations, teamwork, and customer service.

Primary Duties

• Collect shopping carts from cart corrals, parking lots, and store perimeters; return them safely to proper storage locations using approved Walmart procedures.
• Accurately complete required logs documenting cart retrieval and storage activities.
• Quickly respond to requests from registers and Customer Service, assist customers with carrying purchases, and verify receipts when requested.
• Perform occasional cleaning and maintenance tasks including restroom upkeep; adhere to guidelines for chemical handling, disposal, and safe power equipment operation.
• Conduct equipment inspections before use to ensure safety.
• Follow all safety and emergency protocols, including hazardous communication, lockout/tagout, and bloodborne pathogen procedures to maintain workplace safety.
• Wear necessary personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear and reflective vests; carry out routine safety inspections and comply with company policies to ensure a hazard-free work setting.
• Maintain flexibility by working various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.

Challenges

• Manage high volumes of tasks in a fast-paced environment, especially during overnight shifts, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in restocking and organizing.
• Perform physically demanding activities including prolonged standing, bending, lifting items weighing up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Carry out repetitive stocking and zoning duties with precision to uphold store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is 16.15 Canadian dollars.
