Job description

Job Overview

This role involves delivering swift and polite customer service, replenishing stock on shelves, and keeping store aisles tidy and orderly. The Stocker reports to the Floor Supervisor, Assistant Floor Manager, or Floor Manager, operates under non-exempt status, and works within the floor department.

Key Duties

  • Provide friendly and prompt assistance to customers.
  • Unload boxes from pallets, place them on shelves, and open boxes to restock individual items on shelves.
  • Rotate stock regularly to avoid expired products remaining on display.
  • Arrange and face products properly on shelves to maintain an organized appearance.
  • Conduct inspections in compliance with HACCP standards to ensure product safety.
  • Assist with daily inventory reviews to support product rotation and reduce shrinkage or damage.
  • Verify shelf prices are accurate and reflect current pricing and market trends.
  • Follow cleaning protocols to maintain aisle cleanliness, including scrubbing and cleaning under pallets on a routine basis.
  • Monitor the floor for safety risks and immediately address spills and remove debris such as trash, plastic, or wood fragments to uphold safety standards.
  • Promptly notify supervisors about stock shortages or out-of-stock items.

Additional Duties

  • Carry out other duties as assigned by management.
  • Support other departments as needed for operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy abilities.
  • A strong commitment to the organization's core values and excellent customer service practices.

Physical Demands

  • Steel-toe boots are mandatory for safety.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repetitively and overhead.
  • Carry loads up to 50 feet, handling 50 pounds frequently (over 12 times per hour) and 20 pounds constantly (over 30 times per hour).
  • Capability to exert horizontal push and pull forces up to 500 pounds.
  • Required physical skills include agility, manual and finger dexterity between 80-100% proficiency.
  • Posture requirements involve constant standing and walking, frequent bending or stooping, occasional climbing, kneeling, squatting, and shoulder-level reaching.

Work Conditions

  • Work environment ranges mainly at moderate temperatures, with exposure to refrigerated and freezer areas, and temperature variations near receiving and front-end zones influenced by outdoor weather.
  • Presence of moving equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and scooters necessitates heightened awareness and safety precautions.
