About the Role

The Admiral Hotel, home to Le Moyne's Chophouse in Mobile, AL, is seeking a dependable and diligent Steward to join our Food & Beverage team. This role is vital in maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and smooth functioning of our kitchen operations, providing essential support to our culinary staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, dishwashing, and storage areas to high standards.
• Set up and operate dishwashing machines and sinks efficiently.
• Thoroughly wash, sanitize, sort, and properly store all dishes, glassware, cutlery, cookware, and kitchen tools.
• Keep kitchen floors clean and dry throughout shifts.
• Ensure appropriate chemical levels and adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and storing food supplies correctly.
• Manage trash and recycling disposal areas, removing waste as necessary.
• Organize dry storage areas for easy access and maintenance.
• Support with basic food preparation tasks as directed.
• Provide backing to culinary team during busy periods.
• Follow daily cleaning and sanitation checklists precisely.
• Work safely, observing all company and kitchen protocols.
• Perform additional duties assigned by culinary leadership.

Candidate Profile

• High school diploma is preferred.
• Experience as a steward, dishwasher, or in a kitchen environment is advantageous.
• Demonstrates reliability, a positive attitude, and self-motivation.
• Keen attention to cleanliness and organizing skills.
• Ability to follow instructions both verbal and written.
• Comfort working with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaborating effectively with a team.
• Exhibits professional communication and a customer-focused approach.
• Eager to learn and accept guidance.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Active role requiring standing and walking for long periods.
• Physical activities include bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
• Perform repetitive tasks consistently.
• Work conditions involve exposure to heat, humidity, water, and kitchen machinery.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull items weighing 30 pounds or more.
• Operate efficiently in a fast-paced, team-driven kitchen environment.
• Flexible to work various shifts including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Adaptability to changing priorities and business demands is essential.
