Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Kitchen Porter to join our team in Edinburgh. This role is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, flexibility in working hours, and a proactive attitude towards kitchen duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently washing, drying, and storing dishes, cutlery, and kitchen equipment, ensuring a clean and organized kitchen.
• Upholding kitchen cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces and floors.
• Supporting proper disposal and recycling of food waste and materials in line with sustainability practices.
• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen appliances and utensils to extend their usability.
• Helping manage stock by organizing and rotating ingredients and supplies.
• Assisting chefs with basic food prepping tasks and fetching supplies as needed.
• Maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, including appropriate handling of chemicals and tools.
• Collaborating effectively with the kitchen team to maintain a positive work environment, especially during busy periods.
• Following established cleaning schedules consistently throughout the day.
• Ensuring proper food safety by handling and storing food to avoid contamination and keep freshness.
• Keeping storage areas tidy and organized to facilitate smooth kitchen operations.
• Contributing to recycling efforts by correctly separating recyclable materials.
• Assisting with receiving deliveries, verifying accuracy, and ensuring correct storage of perishables.
• Adhering to company policies, including uniform and grooming standards for a professional appearance.
• Demonstrating eagerness to learn and take on extra responsibilities to grow within the kitchen team.

Desired Qualifications and Attributes

• Positive and committed attitude with the flexibility to work varying hours.
• Ability to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Some prior kitchen experience is preferred but not essential.
• Strong organizational skills and capability to multitask under direction.
