Role Overview

This position involves performing all stewarding activities diligently to uphold the exceptional standards of Fairmont Hotels. The steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety in work zones, managing and servicing kitchen machinery, and contributing to operational efficiency in banquet preparation and dishwashing. This role requires adherence to health and safety protocols and active participation in quality assurance procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute all assigned stewarding duties while maintaining the highest level of cleanliness and tidiness in designated areas.
• Operate and maintain all departmental machinery, including dishwashers and soaking tanks, ensuring their proper function.
• Organize and prepare dish room areas, guaranteeing environments free from hazards or debris.
• Perform general dishwashing and cleaning tasks thoroughly.
• Prepare coffee for banquet events when requested.
• Comply with all safety and hygiene standards set by the department and hotel protocols.
• Complete daily ECOSURE compliance checks, including maintaining logs for dishwasher and pot washer temperatures.
• Undertake any additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support department operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Highly motivated individual with a professional approach.
• Proficiency in reading and comprehending English, both spoken and written.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts as required.
• Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
• Physical capability to perform strenuous tasks under pressure and work safely in hot environments.
• Ability to operate, lift, push, and pull heavy equipment as part of daily duties.

Additional Details

• Employment terms are on-site with a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday at the Toronto location.
• Hourly wage begins at $23.32 with increases after six months in accordance with union agreements.
