We seek an experienced and driven Staff Technical Program Manager to lead high-impact programs, optimizing processes for delivering exceptional customer and merchant products. As our business and product offerings grow in sophistication, so must our program management methods. This role supports Product and Engineering teams to establish effective frameworks and processes to deliver quality software, while exploring new technologies to enhance features and products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead intricate, multi-disciplinary, and highly visible technical initiatives supporting growth of our consumer product suite and platform capabilities.
• Collaborate across engineering and cross-functional teams throughout program phases to clarify requirements, detect risks, manage timelines, and facilitate transparent communication with stakeholders company-wide.
• Gain deep architectural understanding to suggest technical alternatives, clarify priorities, and drive effective delivery while building technical and domain expertise.
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to organize requirements, mitigate risks, manage schedules, and ensure open dialogue with diverse teams across the organization.
• Monitor project progress, address dependencies, assess risks, report status to leadership and stakeholders, and engage teams to reach objectives.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or comparable hands-on experience.
• Minimum of 8 years managing technical programs successfully.
• Strong motivation to transform consumer finance positively.
• Systematic and strategic in collaborating across multi-disciplinary groups.
• Detail-oriented yet pragmatic in delivering on time.
• Experience piloting strategic programs and nurturing a remote-friendly culture.
• Active mentorship and development of team members.
• Proven history in leading complex large-scale technology initiatives and distributed backend systems across locations.
• Effective stakeholder management with teams in Engineering, Product, Design, Analytics, and other functions.
• Background in FinTech, Payments, or Commerce is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The position corresponds to Pay Grade N and Equity Grade 5. New hires typically start at the lower end of the pay range. Affirm offers a straightforward, transparent compensation system considering location, experience, and relevant skills. The base annual salary range is $153,000 to $213,000. Total compensation also includes potential equity awards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology needs, plus comprehensive benefits including 100% subsidized healthcare (medical, dental, vision) for employees and dependents.
