Role and Responsibilities
- Engineer and sustain high-performance C++ services, frameworks, and tools powering an advanced audio and video processing platform.
- Architect and execute distributed systems to efficiently ingest, process, store, and deliver multimedia content to millions worldwide.
- Collaborate across engineering, product management, and design teams to craft remarkable video editing and playback experiences.
- Enhance multimedia pipelines focusing on reliability, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Create new feature sets supporting a rapidly expanding video and multimedia environment.
- Promote engineering excellence via rigorous testing, code reviews, operational best practices, and continuous process improvements.
- Diagnose and resolve intricate production challenges, contributing to the sustained advancement of video infrastructure.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated commercial expertise in building scalable, secure, and efficient backend systems utilizing C++.
- Strong foundation in computer science principles covering concurrency, multithreading, memory management, data structures, architecture, and design patterns.
- Experience in designing and managing distributed backend architectures.
- Practical knowledge of cloud platforms and services within production contexts.
- Proficient in debugging, diagnosing, and rectifying complex performance and stability issues.
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills working alongside diverse teams.
- Passion for audio and video tech and enthusiasm for handling multimedia content at scale.
- Familiarity with contemporary video codecs such as H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, and AV1.
- In-depth experience with multimedia frameworks/libraries like FFmpeg and/or GStreamer, including source code debugging, architectural analysis, profiling, and patch creation.
- Developed large-scale solutions for video ingestion, storage, transcoding, processing, and distribution.
- Comprehensive understanding of multimedia container formats including MP4 and WebM.
Preferred Extra Skills
- Contributions to open-source multimedia projects like FFmpeg or GStreamer.
- Expertise in adaptive bitrate streaming technologies including DASH, HLS, or CMAF for video playback optimization.
- Experience tuning encoding pipelines to balance video quality, storage optimization, and delivery efficiency.
- Familiarity working with Java-based services in expansive, distributed environments.
