About the Role
Join our team as a Staff Software Engineer working on one of the world's most popular CI/CD platforms used by leading engineering organizations globally, including frontier AI labs and top tech companies. You will be part of the team responsible for scalable test intelligence solutions such as real-time flaky test detection and quarantining, intelligent test splitting, ownership mapping, and complex analytics derived from high-volume test event ingestion.
Currently, AI agents are generating tests at speeds surpassing human review, creating an exponential increase in test signal volume and speed. Our systems must evolve to efficiently process and respond to this surge for both AI agents and human users.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-capacity data pipelines capable of processing test events with very high concurrency.
- Make critical architectural decisions about data storage, identifying when relational databases are appropriate and when alternative solutions should be adopted.
- Take full ownership of problems from start to finish within a small, autonomous team with minimal procedural barriers.
- Collaborate directly with engineering teams utilizing the platform and translate insights into product improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and set strategic direction as a true staff-level individual contributor.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive backend development experience, preferably strong with Ruby or Go, or equally proficient with another backend language.
- Demonstrable experience managing large-scale systems, including handling concurrency, throughput, and API load challenges; able to explain what failed first, how limits were identified, and solutions implemented.
- In-depth knowledge of Postgres, including query tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, and good judgment on its use cases.
- Bonus experience with high-throughput or streaming platforms such as Kafka, ClickHouse, or Flink.
- Positive and engaged attitude toward AI, comfortable working in an AI-native development environment and leveraging AI tools.
