About the Role
Join Unloan, a dynamic and innovative company backed by Commonwealth Bank, dedicated to transforming the home lending industry through cutting-edge digital platforms. As a Staff Software Engineer within the InLife Crew's Core Banking Squad, you will be central to powering digital home lending by designing and maintaining highly reliable, scalable, and secure systems that handle the entire loan lifecycle, including repayments, account servicing, redraw facilities, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, strategy, design, and implementation of resilient and scalable core lending systems.
- Develop secure and scalable services using technologies such as TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, and GraphQL within cloud-native environments.
- Deliver high-quality outcomes by driving execution from concept through to production in an environment that embraces ownership and accountability.
- Mentor engineering teams to elevate technical standards and foster a culture of continuous learning and discipline.
- Evolve the home lending platform to be intelligent, reliable, and scalable, enabling faster innovation through automation and modern engineering methodologies.
- Drive cross-team initiatives, manage complexity, and contribute to architectural decisions that align business outcomes with technical solutions.
Technical Skills and Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with back-end development using Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and REST APIs.
- Solid full-stack capabilities, managing the entire software development lifecycle with a "build it, own it" philosophy.
- Experience designing and scaling distributed, event-driven systems to support complex financial operations and high-volume transactions.
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure and cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, containerization with Docker, and CI/CD pipelines including GitHub Actions.
- Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks such as Jest, Playwright, and Storybook.
- Knowledge of AI and automation technologies, including generative AI, LLMs, and AI tooling like GitHub Copilot and Claude, applied pragmatically to improve productivity while respecting security and compliance requirements.

The Unloan InLife Crew is responsible for operating Unloan’s comprehensive home lending platform, encompassing lending, refinancing, servicing, and loan management tasks under demanding production scenarios with high volume and precision needs. This role resides onsite in the Greater Melbourne Area and demands a strong systems mindset combined with the ability to navigate complex banking and regulatory environments.
