Division Information

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at KLA fosters advanced long-term technological advancements, partnering with product divisions and strategic marketing to explore emerging technologies such as light sources, lasers, and sensors. This office leads research and development activities and collaborates with product engineering to transition technologies into manufacturable products. It also shapes strategic plans, program assessments, and Product Life Cycle stages using cross-divisional expertise to leverage company-wide knowledge.

Role Overview

We invite an enthusiastic Research Scientist to join our team focusing on the creation and study of sophisticated inorganic materials with cutting-edge applications. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, synthesizing, and analyzing detailed inorganic compounds with a hands-on approach and comprehensive data interpretation capabilities. Collaboration and communication with a broad group of scientists and engineers is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and synthesis of inorganic compounds and solid-state materials.
• Optimization of reaction conditions to ensure high purity and clearly defined material structures.
• Utilization of characterization techniques such as TGA, XRD, SEM, and XPS to analyze material properties.
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including optics, opto-mechanical engineers, and laser scientists for failure analysis and validation of new materials and processes in KLA products.

Candidate Requirements

• Expertise in inorganic compound synthesis, sintering, material and surface science, phase transfer science, and solid-state chemistry; familiarity with optical materials like non-linear optics is advantageous.
• Strong practical skills in executing experiments related to synthesis.
• Proficient in employing structural analysis tools such as TGA, XRD, SEM, and XPS.
• A positive, proactive team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Educational Qualifications

Minimum educational background varies with experience: Doctorate degree plus 3 years of related work experience; Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant work experience; or Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience.
