Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed) - GPS

As a Full Stack Software Engineer embedded directly in public sector engagements, you will create end-to-end AI-powered applications to address critical issues and make a measurable difference in citizen services. At Scale, our aim transcends technology development; we empower public agencies to transform their operations and enhance citizen services through advanced AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the chief technical architect for various government projects, converting vague mission goals into comprehensive architectural plans and leading their implementation on site.
• Design foundational frameworks for scalable, production-grade AI applications that seamlessly integrate interactive front-end interfaces, backend systems, and AI models to ensure consistent and dependable results.
• Oversee the advancement of cloud architecture to guarantee security, global scalability, and system durability across diverse environments.
• Direct the creation of core platforms and shared infrastructure that address diverse needs of multiple global clients.
• Collaborate with leadership teams to shape the technical vision and roadmap, mentor engineering personnel at multiple levels, and ensure unified, sustainable technology architecture.
• Translate firsthand client insights into reusable engineering patterns to bridge operational experiences and core platform development.

Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science or equally deep professional exposure to complex, distributed system architecture.
• Over 10 years of comprehensive full-stack development experience, prominently including Python, Node.js, and React, complemented by proven design expertise for scalable systems on Kubernetes and major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Exceptional capability in designing and maintaining robust ecosystems meeting high standards for security, integrity, and long-term scalability.
• Demonstrated expertise in deploying and resolving challenges in sophisticated, high-security client environments.
• Experienced in architecting solutions leveraging large language models (LLMs), anticipating technological shifts, and building forward-compatible systems.
• Strong autonomous leadership skills to navigate ambiguous contexts, guide senior staff, and define organizational technical direction.
• Promoter of asynchronous communication and documentation-driven culture to enhance engineering productivity and reduce operational friction globally.

Preferred Attributes

• Prior roles as CTO, founding engineer, or in dedicated customer/forward deployed engineering positions at startups.
• Experience collaborating across operational teams within organizations.
• Fluency in Arabic language is advantageous.
