Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed) - Public Sector AI

About the Role

Join Scale's expanding Global Public Sector team dedicated to applying artificial intelligence to tackle vital challenges faced by governments worldwide. This role involves building custom AI-driven applications impacting millions and generating specialized training data for large language models, alongside providing upskilling and advisory services to increase AI adoption in the public sector.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with public sector clients to define project scopes, gather feedback, and implement tailored AI solutions, including spending up to two weeks monthly onsite at client locations.
• Design and develop scalable, production-ready full-stack applications integrating AI models, covering frontend interfaces, backend APIs, and systems.
• Deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure ensuring system security, scalability, reliability, and integrity.
• Enhance core platform features intended for reuse across multiple global client projects.
• Work alongside design, product, and data teams to create resilient applications consistent with overarching technical architectures.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a full-stack engineer, with strong skills in React (mandatory), TypeScript, Next.js, Python, Node.js, and databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and one or more cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Demonstrated capability to architect and manage large-scale, production applications and cloud infrastructure health.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting end-to-end solutions directly within client infrastructure.
• Proactive, self-starting attitude capable of navigating ambiguous requirements to deliver dependable software.
• Familiarity with asynchronous communication methods to ensure smooth collaboration.
• Experience developing solutions involving large language models and comprehensive knowledge of the generative AI space.

Additional Preferences

• Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
• Previous experience in forward deployed or customer-dedicated engineering roles.
• Comfort collaborating cross-functionally with operations teams.
