Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a Staff CPU Architect to lead the architectural and micro-architectural design specifications for state-of-the-art out-of-order (OOO) superscalar CPU cores implemented in next-generation System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. This role focuses on maximizing performance while optimizing power and area efficiency.
This is a senior leadership position requiring profound expertise in OOO superscalar CPU operation, multi-core system coherency, and workload performance evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive specifications for CPU cores that provide clear guidance to design teams and stakeholders, including performing technical reviews as needed.
- Collaborate closely with architecture groups and design teams to enhance CPU system-wide performance, including integration with accelerators, SoC components, and software teams.
- Utilize simulators and analytical tools to model power and performance for critical workloads, conducting trade-off analyses on architectural features and design alternatives.
- Work alongside implementation and verification teams, supporting power analysis and manufacturing process-related decision-making.
- Investigate next-generation architectural requirements and features to support future product innovation.
Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of demonstrated leadership in architectural design of OOO superscalar CPUs with a successful history of delivery, adept at guiding micro-architecture decisions that optimize performance, power, and area.
- Deep expert knowledge of CPU micro-architectures, memory hierarchies, and multi-core system coherency protocols.
- Strong understanding of SoC design principles including integration of accelerators, CPUs, and memory subsystems.
- Proven experience in employing advanced functional and performance simulation tools for architecture exploration, validation, and workload performance prediction.
- Familiarity with or interest in RISC-V architecture, including both hardware and software aspects.
- Experience with tightly coupled accelerator integration.
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning software frameworks and their hardware mapping.
Soft Skills and Values
We seek team-oriented individuals who prioritize collective outcomes, embrace respectful and honest discussions, and maintain strong communication skills. Candidates should enjoy collaborating and have enthusiasm for delivering innovative products.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to join a forward-thinking, expanding company.
- Investment in employee growth and career development.
- Hybrid work environment with flexible schedules.
- Competitive compensation aligned with your experience.
- Primary work location is Limerick, Ireland, with possibilities in Rome or Barcelona.
