Staff ASIC Verification Engineer

Qualcomm Canada ULC's Engineering Group, specifically within the ASICS Engineering team, is seeking a Staff ASIC Verification Engineer to contribute to groundbreaking work shaping low power AI subsystems. Focused on pushing feature and performance boundaries, Qualcomm develops audio products delivering premium wireless connectivity, advanced integration, immersive sound quality, and on-device AI for intelligent audio and context-aware functionality. The role revolves around ultra-low power ASIC design including complex power domain challenges for next-generation chip solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate actively in core verification activities through simulation for next-generation ASICs during both pre- and post-silicon phases.
• Lead and contribute to test plan creation, execution, and achieving verification closure collaborating closely with design and verification teams.
• Develop and maintain scalable, reusable testbenches, assertions, and functional coverage models to ensure efficient verification.
• Implement automated workflows to optimize development processes, identifying and driving improvements to completion.
• Steer complex debugging efforts throughout all development stages, including both pre-silicon and post-silicon cycles.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers, exemplifying leadership by example.
• Collaborate intimately with design teams to define verification methodologies, devise test plans, and develop necessary tests.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related discipline with at least 4 years of relevant ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration experience; or
• A Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years related experience; or
• A PhD with 2 or more years experience in ASIC design or verification.

• Strong proficiency in Verilog and VHDL RTL design languages, with the capability to produce clean, readable, and synthesizable RTL code.
• In-depth knowledge of ASIC and VLSI design concepts.
• Expertise in hardware verification languages such as SystemVerilog testbench methodologies (including UVM) and/or SystemC.
• Advanced familiarity with hardware description languages: Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
• Basic or sufficient experience programming in C or C++.

Preferred Skills

• Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following: audio formats/technologies (MP3, MIDI), bus/interconnect protocols like AHB or AXI, CPU architectures such as ARM v7/v8 including cache, MMU, and security features.
• Strong understanding of digital circuit design and event-driven simulation tools.
• Competency with scripting and build tools including Perl, tcsh, Python, and GNU Make.
• Familiarity with automotive safety standards such as ISO26262.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from 129600 to 179600 USD annually, reflecting a broad pay scale for this role and location. Total compensation also includes competitive annual discretionary bonuses and potential RSU grants (not available for sales-incentive roles).
