Role Overview

The company seeks a Stack Testing Technician based in South Farmingdale, NY, to perform emission evaluations at stationary combustion sources in the NYC metropolitan area. The role involves working hands-on with mechanical equipment and conducting tests on smoke stacks, which requires comfort working at heights and physical ability. The position also includes data handling and report collaboration with the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Report daily to the office to collect company van and testing kits for fieldwork.
• Travel to client sites around the NYC metro area to collect emission samples at smoke stacks.
• Perform stationary source emissions evaluations using USEPA reference test methods.
• Operate hand tools and use basic computer software such as Excel and Word for data entry and communication.
• Assist engineering staff by providing accurate data for reports and compliance analysis.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Background as a mechanical technician or technical school education.
• Strong practical mechanical skills with basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Fundamental computer literacy including Excel and Word.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicle.
• Comfortable working at significant heights on warehouse smoke stacks.
• Physical ability to lift loads up to 45 pounds.
• Reliable and responsible work attitude.

Additional Job Details

• Local travel primarily within the NYC metropolitan region, with occasional out-of-town assignments (about 10-15%).
• Training provided upon hiring.
