Speech Language Pathologist

About the Role

We are seeking a DHA-licensed Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist for a full-time position based in Dubai. The primary role involves assessing, diagnosing, and managing speech, language, and communication challenges in children using a neurodiversity-affirming approach. This role demands collaboration with families and caregivers, designing individual therapy plans, and supporting each child's unique strengths and needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement Neurodiversity-affirming therapy methods, embracing and promoting the neurodiversity paradigm or be willing to learn it extensively.
• Conduct both formal and informal assessments, working closely with clients, their families, and involved professionals to devise strategies that enhance performance and executive functioning.
• Focus on a strength-based methodology emphasizing emotional and sensory regulation rather than compliance or sitting tolerance.
• Partner with Occupational Therapists for co-therapy and co-treatment planning.
• Maintain thorough documentation and prepare official client reports according to Starwalkers’ format.
• Engage in individualized care plan meetings, data review sessions, and interdisciplinary team collaborations.
• Contribute to development of resources and participate in webinars aimed at coaching parents in communication strategies.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a DHA license to practice.
• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
• Exhibit strong communication abilities.
• Prior exposure to or certification in Neurodiversity-Affirming practices and Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) is preferred.
• Experience or readiness to adopt a strength-based approach with pediatric clients.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation to work with children.

Additional Information

The initial 2-3 weeks involve comprehensive training through video sessions and self-study on the Neurodiversity paradigm, Natural Language Acquisition in Gestalt Language Processors, and other relevant topics to ensure confidence in working with autistic children and their families.
