About the Role
Ormiston Hospital, a private surgical facility located in Flat Bush serving East and South Auckland and surrounding areas, seeks a Specialist Engagement Manager. This pivotal role centers on cultivating and maintaining strong connections with the hospital’s specialist community, including surgeons, GPs, referrers, and internal hospital teams. The manager will be a visible presence within the hospital and the broader healthcare network.
The Specialist Engagement Manager will develop an in-depth understanding of specialists' practices and priorities, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships, increase activity, enhance experiences, and resolve challenges proactively. Collaboration with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team is key to sustaining and expanding the specialist community and attracting new specialists.
Applying a commercial perspective, the role involves spotting chances for service growth, referrals, and new offerings by leveraging relationships, market knowledge, referral data, and performance metrics. The manager will partner with Marketing to promote specialists and services, enhance GP and referrer engagement, organize CME and networking opportunities, and raise Ormiston's healthcare community profile. This permanent position offers 0.8 to 1.0 full-time equivalency and is based on-site at Ormiston Hospital.

- Background in healthcare relationship management, business development, specialist engagement, or clinical/allied health (e.g., physiotherapy, occupational therapy) complemented by relationship and commercial skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand's private healthcare system, including insurers, ACC, funding, and referral systems.
- Capability to engage specialists on their practice, operational challenges, and growth possibilities.
- Experience creating GP, referrer, or specialist engagement initiatives and CME events is a plus.
- Analytical skills to utilize data, trends, and market insights for opportunity prioritization.
- Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and team connectivity.
- Flexibility and positivity to thrive amid change.
- Familiarity with CRM, patient management, or referral software.
- Current New Zealand driver's license is required.
- Existing relationships within specialist, GP, allied health, or wider healthcare sectors are advantageous.
