As a Solutions Engineer (also known as Presales or Sales Engineer), you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, expertly identifying and proposing optimal solutions tailored to our customers' needs. This dynamic role involves leveraging strong technical knowledge, teamwork, and communication skills to support sales and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with sales teams to engage prospective clients and business partners.
- Conduct detailed discovery sessions to understand customer pain points and current environments.
- Deliver compelling technical presentations and respond to inquiries during the sales process.
- Develop and perform impactful solution demonstrations.
- Design secure, scalable solutions that span on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures.
- Manage customer product evaluation processes as the primary point of contact.
- Plan and oversee proofs of concept, defining scope, success metrics, timelines, and customer responsibilities.
- Identify and resolve technical or functional objections creatively, collaborating with relevant teams.
- Build persuasive proposals that communicate the company's solutions’ benefits to stakeholders at all levels, including C-level executives.
- Contribute to responses for RFPs, RFIs, security questionnaires, and technical tenders.
- Partner closely with business partners for discovery calls, demos, proposals, events, and enablement activities.
- Engage in partner training and functional enablement sessions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, support, and professional services to address customer technical issues and represent regional needs.
- Represent Fortra at industry trade shows, user groups, conferences, and webinars.
- Act as a market expert on Fortra’s products, including competitive positioning and sales/service strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or relevant technical field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum three years of IT experience in technical presales, consulting, development, or support roles.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation abilities with an aptitude for technical education and training.
- General understanding of multiple technologies including SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, SQL, SMB, NAS, DNS, proxies, load balancers, LDAP, SAML, APIs, web services, JSON, XML, Windows, Linux, cloud platforms, hybrid infrastructures, and containerization.
- Experience in scripting or workflow automation using any programming language.
- Fundamentals of security practices such as encryption, PKI, authentication, authorization, certificates, key management, network security, anti-malware, data loss prevention, compliance, and secure deployments.
- Proven ability to work effectively with partners and distributors in the Middle East region.
- Capable of independently managing regional responsibilities while collaborating effectively with international and remote teams.
- Willingness to travel occasionally—typically 1 to 3 times per quarter.
- Experience with Managed File Transfer (MFT), data integration, or job scheduling solutions is advantageous.
