Overview

The Solutions Architect for Lakebase aligns with Databricks' strategic Product Operating Model, emphasizing focus on early-stage, prioritized product lines to secure market fit and drive rapid revenue growth. This role operates within a global go-to-market team with regional focus, collaborating closely with account teams to engage clients, foster relationships, and advocate for meaningful adoption and expansion of the Lakebase product within client environments. The architect understands adoption strategies and supports clients in achieving their business goals through effective product use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Go-To-Market leadership and account teams to craft and execute impactful engagement plans across the assigned territory.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor and champion, building credibility with stakeholders to promote product adoption and align with strategic vision.
  • Deliver client enablement through workshops and development of customer-facing materials that enhance technical understanding and thought leadership.
  • Influence the product roadmap by conveying field-sourced, data-driven insights to Product and Engineering teams.
  • Address complex technical challenges as the tier-3 escalation point ensuring success in mission-critical settings.

Required Competencies and Experience

  • 10+ years of transactional OLTP database expertise spanning engineering, product development, administration, and pre-sales with demonstrated success in designing client-facing solutions.
  • Credibility in shaping OLTP products informed by deep market insights for feature prioritization.
  • Proven skills architecting solutions integrating transactional systems with Big Data, Lakehouse, and AI ecosystems.
  • Strong infrastructure and platform knowledge including disaster recovery, high availability, backup/recovery, scaling, identity/security management, and migrations (vendor-to-vendor, on-premise to cloud).
  • Minimum 6 years in customer-facing pre-sales or consulting roles, influencing technical executives and facilitating high-level data strategies and product adoption.
  • Experience collaborating on large territory planning with Account Executives and executing coordinated cross-functional efforts across GTM and R&D.
  • History of partnering with Global System Integrators and consulting firms to achieve client outcomes.
  • Technical proficiency in programming and troubleshooting with SQL and Python.
  • Practical experience developing solutions within major public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Comprehensive exposure and understanding across at least two areas among data engineering, data warehousing, AI/ML, governance, transactional systems, application development, and streaming.
  • Undergraduate or higher degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex projects to completion in dynamic, client-facing environments.
