Job description
Position Overview
The Solutions Architect for the Lakebase product line plays a crucial role within Databricks' strategic Product Operating Model, focusing on early-stage, high-priority product lines to achieve product-market fit and accelerate revenue growth. This role operates as part of a global go-to-market team while concentrating on a specified regional market. The individual collaborates closely with direct account teams to engage clients effectively, foster strategic relationships, and provide in-depth positioning of the Lakebase product to encourage strong adoption and usage aligned with clients' business goals.
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with an Account Executive assigned to Lakebase, jointly formulating and executing account strategies, creating tailored presentations, demos, and other sales enablement materials.
- Work alongside go-to-market leadership and account teams to design and deploy impactful engagement plans across assigned territories.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor, establishing credibility with stakeholder groups to promote product adoption and articulate the product vision.
- Facilitate client enablement through workshops and development of customer-facing materials that impart technical knowledge and thought leadership.
- Provide field insights by translating customer and market feedback into actionable recommendations for product and engineering teams to influence the product roadmap.
- Serve as the highest level technical escalation contact (tier-3) for the Lakebase product line to resolve complex challenges, ensuring customer success in critical environments.
Technical Expertise & Qualifications
- Over a decade of experience in transactional (OLTP) database systems including engineering, product development, administration, and pre-sales engagements, showcasing successful delivery of client solutions.
- Demonstrated influence in shaping OLTP products based on market insights and prioritizing features in development roadmaps.
- Expertise architecting integrations between transactional data systems and expansive Big Data, Lakehouse, and AI platforms.
- Proficiency in infrastructure management concerning disaster recovery, high availability, backup/recovery, scalability approaches, identity and security management, and migrations between vendors or from on-premises to cloud environments.
- Minimum six years of client-facing experience in pre-sales or consulting roles, influencing senior technical leaders and promoting data strategy and product uptake.
- Track record of collaborative planning and execution of large account territories with Account Executives and coordination across GTM and research & development teams.
- Experience working with Global System Integrators and third-party consultants to improve customer business results.
- Strong programming capabilities with practical skills in SQL and Python, including debugging and problem-solving.
- Hands-on know-how with major public cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP for building solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge spanning at least two fields such as data engineering, data warehousing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, governance, transactional databases, application development, and streaming technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant technical disciplines such as Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalents.
- Proven ability to drive complex customer projects through to completion in a fast-paced environment.
