About the Role
Join EY as a Snowflake Solution Architect and be at the forefront of designing and implementing cloud data and AI solutions. This role focuses on creating robust data architectures and integrating Snowflake with a variety of tools within a wider solution environment. You will lead in building scalable data pipelines, designing data models and data products, as well as crafting user-friendly visual and natural language interfaces to facilitate interaction with complex data.
The position offers the opportunity to provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues while staying at the cutting edge of data engineering advancements. Preferably based in the Wellington office, candidates in Auckland or Christchurch are also considered. Flexible working and reduced hours options may be discussed.
Key Responsibilities
- Design architecture solutions using the Snowflake platform.
- Develop data models and construct pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
- Integrate Snowflake with complementary ecosystem tools.
- Build scalable, resilient data ingestion and processing pipelines.
- Work collaboratively with diverse teams to translate data requirements into technical implementations.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior team members, encouraging continual development.
- Keep current with industry practices and innovations in data engineering.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience deploying Snowflake platforms.
- Expertise in designing data platform solution architectures.
- Competence in various data modeling methodologies.
- Strong background in engineering scalable and reliable data pipelines.
- Proficiency in writing optimized SQL queries.
- Experience integrating Snowflake with data processing frameworks.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Familiarity with Snowflake Horizon Catalog.
- Programming skills in Python, Java, and Scala.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities related to data challenges.
- Effective communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A collaborative and proactive attitude driven by leveraging data to impact business outcomes.
- Experience in technical leadership or mentoring roles.
