Job Overview

The role of Soldering Operator involves manually soldering electronic components such as SMD and Through-Hole types on printed circuit boards (PCBs), performing assembly, rework, and repair tasks to ensure defect-free electronic products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually solder both SMD and Through-Hole electronic components onto PCBs.
  • Conduct PCB rework including desoldering, component replacement, and repairing faulty assemblies.
  • Assemble electronic devices by closely following engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), work instructions, and required quality standards.
  • Inspect solder joints and assembled PCBs to identify defects such as insufficient solder, solder bridges, cold joints, lifted pads, and component misalignment.
  • Perform rework and corrective measures to address soldering and assembly faults.
  • Adhere strictly to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety practices and handle components properly.
  • Operate soldering irons, hot-air rework stations, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct visual inspections and ensure workmanship quality meets defined standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness, workstation organization, and implement 5S methodology in the production area.
  • Collaborate effectively with Production, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams to resolve assembly-related issues.
  • Accurately fill out production, inspection, and rework documentation.
  • Work autonomously or cooperatively as part of a team to meet production and quality goals.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in manual PCB soldering for SMD and Through-Hole components.
  • Experience with PCB rework techniques including desoldering and component replacement.
  • Capability to operate soldering stations and hot-air equipment.
  • Strong ability to inspect and evaluate PCB solder joints and assemblies for quality defects.
  • Familiarity with ESD protection protocols and handling of sensitive electronic components.
  • Understanding of basic electronics, engineering drawings, and BOM interpretation.
  • Skillful at trouble-shooting soldering and assembly issues.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and safety standards.
  • Competence in maintaining 5S workplace organization.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
