About the Role

Join Honeywell as a Software Engineering Manager based in Sydney, NSW, and become part of a visionary team renowned for developing cutting-edge networked building automation and digital video surveillance software solutions on Microsoft platforms. As a leader, you will spearhead a team of software engineers, driving engineering strategy, delivering top-tier software products, and supporting customer growth globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead high-performing software engineering teams, nurturing a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Oversee and mentor engineers to ensure the consistent delivery of quality products, while implementing best practices.
  • Formulate and execute engineering strategies aligned with business expansion and client expectations.
  • Set the technical vision and roadmap across multiple teams consistent with Honeywell’s overall objectives and product direction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to guarantee successful project execution.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in architectural design, code quality, and team development.
  • Identify and drive process enhancements to boost efficiency and productivity.
  • Serve as escalation contact for production and customer-related issues, leading prompt resolution and risk management.
  • Communicate clearly with business stakeholders and partner closely with Product Managers to balance business and technical priorities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Between 10 to 17 years of experience in software engineering, including at least 5 years in a managerial position.
  • Proven ability to manage teams of 10 to 15 engineers effectively.
  • Strong background in software product development, progressing from development roles into leadership positions.
  • Experience delivering complex software products end-to-end, including planning, sprint execution, production releases, and support.
  • Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams encompassing Engineering, QA, Product, and Scrum teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of web application and software product development.
  • Technical expertise in software architecture for both Windows and web applications.
  • Proficiency in .NET development and familiarity with cloud technologies, microservices, and containerization.
  • Experience within agile, product-oriented software development environments.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to inspire and develop high-performing teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), including Access Control, Fire, HVAC, and Video solutions.
  • Understanding of project and service business models in the building systems domain.
  • Experience integrating third-party solutions with BMS platforms.
  • Cloud computing experience, particularly with Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks, preferably React.
