About the Role
Join Honeywell as a Software Engineering Manager based in Sydney, NSW, and become part of a visionary team renowned for developing cutting-edge networked building automation and digital video surveillance software solutions on Microsoft platforms. As a leader, you will spearhead a team of software engineers, driving engineering strategy, delivering top-tier software products, and supporting customer growth globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead high-performing software engineering teams, nurturing a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Oversee and mentor engineers to ensure the consistent delivery of quality products, while implementing best practices.
- Formulate and execute engineering strategies aligned with business expansion and client expectations.
- Set the technical vision and roadmap across multiple teams consistent with Honeywell’s overall objectives and product direction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to guarantee successful project execution.
- Provide hands-on leadership in architectural design, code quality, and team development.
- Identify and drive process enhancements to boost efficiency and productivity.
- Serve as escalation contact for production and customer-related issues, leading prompt resolution and risk management.
- Communicate clearly with business stakeholders and partner closely with Product Managers to balance business and technical priorities.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Between 10 to 17 years of experience in software engineering, including at least 5 years in a managerial position.
- Proven ability to manage teams of 10 to 15 engineers effectively.
- Strong background in software product development, progressing from development roles into leadership positions.
- Experience delivering complex software products end-to-end, including planning, sprint execution, production releases, and support.
- Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams encompassing Engineering, QA, Product, and Scrum teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of web application and software product development.
- Technical expertise in software architecture for both Windows and web applications.
- Proficiency in .NET development and familiarity with cloud technologies, microservices, and containerization.
- Experience within agile, product-oriented software development environments.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), including Access Control, Fire, HVAC, and Video solutions.
- Understanding of project and service business models in the building systems domain.
- Experience integrating third-party solutions with BMS platforms.
- Cloud computing experience, particularly with Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks, preferably React.
