Software Engineering Lead - Core Payouts & Services

About the Role

We are searching for an enthusiastic, self-driven, and technically adept Engineering Lead to oversee our core engineering unit based in Singapore. This team is responsible for developing and managing critical payout APIs and backend services that power our expansive global payments infrastructure.

The role requires balancing an agile startup mindset with the discipline necessary to maintain an enterprise-grade platform that is scalable, performant, and secure, ready for fast-paced growth.

Technology Stack & Tools

• Primary backend language: Golang, alongside Perl (Mojolicious) and Python.
• Frontend technologies: Vue.js.
• Database: PostgreSQL.
• Cloud and infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Docker.
• Development practices: Agile methodologies, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), test-driven development (TDD), infrastructure as code, and AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and Copilot.

Major Responsibilities

• Architect and build high-throughput, low-latency RESTful APIs and backend microservices critical to the payout platform.
• Assume full ownership of the payout system, maintaining SLA adherence, security standards, high availability, and around-the-clock operational reliability.
• Promote engineering best practices including clean coding, rigorous automated tests using TDD, comprehensive documentation, and careful peer code reviews.
• Lead and mentor a talented engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous growth, accountability, and high performance.
• Implement Agile workflows with sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and pair programming to ensure efficient and predictable deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with DevOps and platform teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines, automate provisioning, enhance monitoring, and enable frequent zero-downtime deployment cycles.
• Coordinate with global leadership and cross-functional teams to translate business goals into actionable technical strategies and roadmaps.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and mentoring software development teams in dynamic environments.
• Strong coding expertise in Golang, especially for building scalable backend systems and web services.
• Deep knowledge of relational database systems, particularly PostgreSQL focusing on schema design and query optimization.
• Proven ability to design, build, and secure RESTful APIs handling high volume transactions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes orchestration (EKS).
• Experience or willingness to engage with legacy codebases such as Perl (Mojolicious) as part of platform modernization efforts.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Exposure to fintech or payments industry environments.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks, notably Vue.js or JavaScript/TypeScript.
