About The Team
The Stripe Tax team addresses the complex challenges of sales and indirect tax compliance, navigating intricate tax codes across numerous jurisdictions worldwide. Our Stripe Tax product, launched in 2021, aims to simplify compliance by automating tax calculation and filing, especially catering to large merchants with complex tax requirements.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of projects, handling all phases from scoping and design to implementation and production deployment independently.
- Translate complex customer requirements into impactful software solutions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, design, infrastructure, marketing, and operations to deliver impactful features.
- Identify and resolve production issues across multiple services, enhancing operational stability and performance.
- Balance and execute against both short-term deliverables and long-term engineering goals.
- Adhere to and promote best practices around software engineering, security practices, and architectural design.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years professional software engineering experience (excluding internships or co-ops).
- Proficient coding skills in any programming language; flexibility to learn new languages on the job.
- Strong team collaboration skills, contributing to collective success within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Capable of thriving with substantial autonomy and responsibility, exhibiting an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Effective communication abilities with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Eagerness to work as a software generalist across multiple technologies to solve diverse problems and delight users.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience engaging directly with customers and influencing product decisions.
- Background integrating with complex external systems and APIs.
- Experience in both frontend and backend software development.
Work Environment
Employees assigned to office roles in Dublin and other Stripe locations are generally expected to be in-office at least 50% of the time monthly, though some teams may require full office presence. This approach balances in-person collaboration and flexibility accordingly.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position in Dublin is between €85,000 and €127,600 annually, varying based on career level, experience, qualifications, and location. Compensation may include bonuses, equity, retirement plans, health benefits, and wellness stipends, with specifics discussed during the hiring process.
