About the Role

The Software Engineer III (Backend) plays a critical role in managing advanced and complex development tasks, contributing significantly to team objectives. This position involves leading smaller projects or components while creating features that adhere strictly to architectural quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sophisticated software solutions ensuring they meet requirements for functionality, scalability, testability, and reliability.
• Support system design and grooming activities.
• Maintain and improve code quality through thorough reviews, optimizations, and best practice adherence.
• Innovate effectively to overcome complex technical challenges.
• Participate actively in collaborative efforts within the engineering team and cross-functional groups, including product managers and stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of evolving technology trends and continuously enhance technical skills.
• Produce and upkeep detailed technical documentation for clarity and accessibility.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 5 to 7+ years in software development, preferably in SaaS or similar industries.
• At least 3 years of experience with Service Oriented Architecture, Docker-based services, microservices, and API/data model design or implementation.
• Demonstrated capability in significant software projects, capable of working both independently and within teams during phases such as development, testing, design, and product interfacing.
• Experience building and maintaining large-scale, highly available software systems.
• Proficiency in gRPC and Protocol Buffers for efficient, platform-independent service communication.
• Strong understanding of secure software design and development principles.
• Skilled in selecting and extending third-party commercial or open-source components to enhance operations.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, emphasizing a well-structured testing strategy.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and feature/release toggle strategies for code branching.
• Practice in contract-first API design and negotiation for integration with external systems.
• Proven ability to produce technical documentation.
• Practical knowledge of microservices design patterns and containerized development with Docker.
• Solid grasp of system architecture, design patterns, and software development best practices.
• Competent in operating software within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience working with cloud-based data storage systems including relational databases, NoSQL, and caching technologies.
