Software Engineer II - Microservices Java with AWS

About the Role

As a Software Engineer II on the AI & Engineering team, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining backend applications and APIs using Java, Enterprise Edition, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. You will collaborate extensively with stakeholders and delivery teams to analyze requirements and deliver solutions across the software lifecycle. The position requires building and supporting cloud solutions on AWS and working in Agile delivery methods to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services and APIs with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices design principles.
• Work closely with stakeholders and teams to clarify requirements, design solutions, and implement features.
• Deploy and manage cloud-based applications leveraging AWS services and container platforms.
• Engage in Agile processes including sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and peer code reviews.
• Identify opportunities to automate, optimize performance, resolve defects, and improve engineering workflows.

Qualifications and Skills

• 4-7 years experience developing JVM-based applications with Java 8+ emphasizing OOP, clean code, Exception Handling, Collections, Concurrency, Streams, and Lambdas.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture and RESTful API design with Spring Boot, including security and cloud-native patterns.
• Solid knowledge of databases including RDBMS (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB), data modeling, ORM/JPA, and performance tuning.
• Proficient in AWS cloud services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, API Gateway, ALB, S3, CloudFront, IAM, Cognito, and Secrets Manager.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using CodePipeline, CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins, plus containerization with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Skilled in troubleshooting, writing JUnit tests, performance optimization, and production issue resolution with minimal guidance.
• Good communication skills with experience liaising between technical and non-technical stakeholders and aligning cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Spring Security, Spring Cloud, transaction management, asynchronous communication.
• Integrations with SOAP services and distributed service design.
• Exposure to AI/ML domains including Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and NLP libraries.
• Agile/Scrum/SAFe development experience with collaborative iterative deliveries.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Working Hours

The role is based in Hyderabad with shift timings from 11 AM to 8 PM IST or 2 PM to 11 PM IST.
