Role Overview

We seek a Software Engineer II specializing in Android to join our expanding mobile development team. This position suits candidates located within commuting distance of our Oxford or London hubs, with a remote-first approach complemented by occasional in-person collaboration sessions at the nearest office.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain high-quality Android application code, focusing on hands-on development.
• Engage in full-stack development with an emphasis on Android platforms, alongside backend microservice work as needed.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to specify features and deliver effective, customer-oriented software solutions.
• Own all phases of software engineering life-cycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Work with globally distributed engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

• Practical experience applying AI tools to enhance productivity, quality, and decision-making processes.
• Proven ability to thrive in a globally distributed work environment with a mindset geared to international collaboration.
• Experience developing native Android applications, with beneficial knowledge of mobile web and backend technologies.
• Minimum three years of professional software development experience tackling a variety of technical challenges.
• Familiarity with reactive programming approaches on native mobile platforms.
• Openness and aptitude for adopting new technologies and approaches.
• Strong problem-solving skills enabling breakdown of complex issues into simple, efficient solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
• High sense of ownership and pride in delivering quality work.

Technical Environment

Our technology stack involves Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, Cursor, and GraphQL, structured in a modular clean-architecture MVVM design.
