We are seeking a Software Engineer II specializing in Android to join our expanding mobile team. This position offers a remote-first work environment with optional in-person collaboration sessions at offices in Oxford or London.
Role and Responsibilities
As an engineer within Tripadvisor Experiences, you will be an adaptable developer tackling diverse technical challenges primarily focused on Android app development, alongside occasional backend projects. You will collaborate closely with product managers and designers to drive the full development lifecycle—from design through deployment and maintenance—with frequent code releases. Your core tasks include writing quality code, engaging with all layers of software development including backend microservices, and participating in global engineering team collaborations.
Technical Environment
Our technology stack features Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, Cursor, and GraphQL, structured under a modular clean architecture using the MVVM pattern.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience with demonstrated problem-solving abilities across various technical challenges.
- Experience in Android app development and familiarity with reactive programming on native mobile platforms.
- Exposure to mobile web and backend technologies is advantageous.
- Demonstrable use of AI tools to enhance efficiency, quality, and decision-making in daily tasks.
- A global-first perspective and effective operation within distributed teams.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and simplify complex issues into straightforward solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
