About the Matter Issues Team

This dynamic team works at the forefront of AI innovation within LEAP, melding automation, advanced agentic AI reasoning, and legal domain expertise. You will contribute to creating a pioneering AI system that anticipates legal risks—providing lawyers with an intelligent and risk-aware assistant like never before.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance core features and APIs that power our AI-driven risk management platform for legal services.
• Structure and deliver actionable legal risk insights to integrate seamlessly with various AI components including the Free Thinking Paralegal and Matter AI systems.
• Create robust, scalable backend services and polished user-facing frontends to uphold quality, performance, and reliability.
• Influence architectural and technical strategies to evolve our AI legal tools effectively.
• Innovate by prototyping AI-enhanced features leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and address the challenges related to integrating generative AI in practical applications.
• Own projects end-to-end within a nimble startup environment supported by enterprise resources, working closely with the team to deliver impact from day one.

Candidate Profile

• 3 to 6 years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Solid understanding of backend development, API creation, and database management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities that foster clear and collaborative teamwork.

Preferred but Not Required

• Exposure to AI technologies, including LLMs, automation workflows, or agent system design.
• Background in LegalTech products, Software as a Service (SaaS), or early-stage technology teams.
• Interest in prompt engineering for LLMs or improving AI system reliability.
