Job description

Role Overview

Join the team transforming how customers engage with relational database solutions on a grand scale. The AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) is rapidly expanding, offering seamless cloud-based provisioning and management for relational databases. Customers can effortlessly deploy databases, while routine administrative tasks like scaling, failover, and monitoring are automated through sophisticated control systems.

As a software engineer within the RDS team in Dublin, you will conceive, build, and deploy robust solutions that enable both internal and external customers to interact efficiently with the RDS service through APIs and user interfaces at substantial scale.

Team and Organization

The AWS RDS initiative is part of the AWS Utility Computing Organization, which includes services ranging from foundational platforms like Amazon S3 and EC2 to cutting-edge product innovations that differentiate AWS in the cloud space. This team supports a broad range of cloud services including Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform solutions, and Productivity Applications, with a focus on addressing specialized security needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Professional experience in software development beyond internships.
  • Proficiency in designing or architecting robust and scalable systems using sound design patterns.
  • Competence in at least one programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience encompassing the full software development lifecycle, including adherence to coding standards, conducting code reviews, version control, build automation, comprehensive testing, and operational support.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
