About the Role
Join Viamagus Technologies as a Software Development Engineer III focused on backend systems. We work closely with high-growth product and enterprise teams, providing engineering expertise to tackle complex real-world problems at scale. This position involves owning the entire backend lifecycle — from architectural design to production deployment and operational maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver backend services operating at enterprise-level scale.
- Develop reliable, fault-tolerant systems equipped with clear service-level indicators (SLIs) and objectives (SLOs), superior observability, and consistent performance.
- Lead design and implementation of microservices, distributed workflows, asynchronous processing, message handling, retries, and idempotency.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including Product, Frontend, QA/SDET, DevOps/SRE, and Data to translate business requirements into robust backend solutions.
- Elevate engineering quality through comprehensive design and code reviews, and advocate operational best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers, exemplifying ownership, craftsmanship, and execution excellence.
Qualifications
- More than 7 years of experience developing production-grade backend systems, preferably in SaaS or product settings.
- Strong foundational knowledge in distributed systems, concurrency, high reliability, and scalability.
- Expertise in Java and frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot.
- Proven success designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Hands-on experience with High-Level and Low-Level Design, including ownership of architecture decisions.
- Experience in creating and scaling large distributed systems managing high transaction throughput and concurrency.
- Advanced know-how of multi-tenant architectures ensuring data isolation and performance stability across clients.
- Familiarity with full technology stack including relational and NoSQL databases, messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ, and caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex production issues with accountability.
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern development workflows including CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
- History of actively coding and deploying solutions beyond planning and conceptual design.
