About the Role
Autodesk is a worldwide leader in design and manufacturing technology serving sectors like architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and entertainment. The PSET-Access team focuses on creating and managing systems that provide secure, scalable, and reliable access to product functionalities and resources. Currently, the team is modernizing its access management systems. As a Software Development Engineer, you will collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain backend services primarily using Java or Go. You will own well-scoped components, contribute to key technical decisions, and help enhance the systems' reliability, maintainability, and developer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality backend software using Java or Go.
- Deliver defined features and improvements with increasing autonomy.
- Build and enhance services, APIs, libraries, and tools that support access workflows and platform functionalities.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and actively participate in code and design reviews.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, including root-cause analysis across services.
- Enhance system reliability, observability, performance, security, and readiness for operations.
- Contribute to operational duties such as system monitoring and incident response.
- Collaborate closely with product, security, infrastructure, and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, engineering standards, and promote team best practices.
- Identify and reduce technical debt and simplify existing systems.
- Accept feedback constructively and contribute positively to team growth and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience developing software primarily in Java or Go.
- Solid grasp of fundamental software engineering concepts including data structures, algorithms, APIs, testing, debugging, and version control.
- Ability to comprehend existing codebases and make safe, maintainable changes.
- Experience with automated testing and defect diagnosis.
- Understanding of distributed systems, backend services, cloud infrastructure, or comparable production environments.
- Strong communication skills for effectively collaborating with engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ownership of defined engineering tasks through to completion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building production backend services and RESTful or RPC APIs.
- Knowledge of authentication, authorization, identity, permissions, or access control concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, container technologies, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), monitoring and observability tools.
- Understanding of secure software development practices and security principles.
- Experience operating production services and troubleshooting distributed systems.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and developer productivity tools.
