About the Role and Company

Join the Siemens Simatic AX project as a Software Developer contributing to the advancement of Software Defined Automation. In this position, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of industrial automation by developing innovative technologies using OPC UA, the leading open standard for IT/OT integration and cross-vendor machine-to-machine communication.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, high-efficiency OPC UA components for the SIMATIC AX Runtime and Engineering platforms.
• Implement and enhance OPC UA as the fundamental standard for cross-vendor interoperability, supporting IT and OT convergence.
• Take initiative in managing technical challenges, progressing ideas from conception through to production-quality software.
• Utilize modern development methods, including AI-assisted coding tools, to improve productivity and maintain high code standards.
• Work collaboratively within an agile, cross-functional team to deliver dependable and secure automation solutions.
• Drive improvements in test automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment processes to uphold software quality excellence.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• Professional experience in software development, particularly in agile settings such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Expertise in Modern C++ programming, including thorough understanding of compiler toolchains, build, and link processes.
• Strong knowledge of the OPC UA standard applied in industrial contexts.
• Proficiency with CMake, Git, and using CI/CD tools to automate workflows.
• Experience or interest in AI-supported or agentic coding methods.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are advantageous.
