This role as a Software Cloud Engineer I, based out of our Galway office, contributes to the software ecosystem supporting implantable cardiac devices across all software development phases. The work encompasses various domains including application software, network protocols, mobile applications, Bluetooth/BLE communications, and embedded device interfacing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining specified software features under close supervision.
- Support initiatives related to software delivery, infrastructure, data handling, security, and engineering.
- Participate in achieving project milestones and contribute to cross-functional projects enhancing clinician and patient experiences.
- Help troubleshoot technical issues and identify root causes.
- Collaborate with diverse teams such as software engineers, architects, security, data, and infrastructure specialists to meet project goals.
- Develop reusable coding patterns and promote innovation to improve team productivity.
- Engage in continuous process improvements for the software team by identifying and applying incremental changes.
- Operate under supervision to contribute effectively to project tasks.
- Learn and implement best practices in software development, automation, cloud computing, security, reliability, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field recognized per regulatory standards.
- Strong foundational theoretical knowledge typically gained through advanced education.
- Experience or exposure to programming, scripting, automation, cloud technologies, or data systems through education, internships, projects, or work.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- A cooperative mindset with the ability to work within a technical team and seek guidance as needed.
- Passion and curiosity about advancing connected health data solutions to improve patient outcomes.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in software building and deployment.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and infrastructure services.
- Competence in modern programming or scripting languages.
- Knowledge of source control, automated testing, and continuous integration/delivery practices.
- Understanding of containerization and contemporary application platforms.
- Skills in infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Background in data processing, event streaming, databases, or distributed systems.
- Awareness of security, quality, and compliance tools integrated into development workflows.
- Exposure to data analytics and architectural principles.
Additional Information
This role is based onsite with a hybrid work model available from the Galway office. The position offers a competitive salary ranging from 44,240 to 66,360 EUR annually and includes eligibility for a short-term incentive through the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
