About the Role
MCS Group is partnering with an innovative software company seeking an experienced Software Architect to drive the next stage of growth. This opportunity focuses on platform architecture rather than maintenance of existing systems, allowing you to shape a next-generation cloud-native SaaS platform. The company has an established product supporting critical, high-volume business operations, and now they are investing significantly in designing and building a new scalable, resilient, and secure platform for the future.

Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the platform architecture for a modern cloud-native SaaS application.
- Define and articulate the long-term technical vision and architectural roadmap.
- Design distributed systems that are scalable, resilient, and secure, able to handle high transaction volumes.
- Lead architectural decisions across applications, cloud infrastructure, integration, and data.
- Set engineering standards, design principles, and enforce architectural governance.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to ensure alignment of architecture with business goals.
- Guide engineering teams through complex technical issues and architectural trade-offs.
- Promote modern engineering methodologies such as Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, and Microservices.
- Foster continuous improvement focusing on performance, reliability, observability, and operational best practices.
- Play a role in the company’s AI strategy by identifying responsible ways to integrate AI into engineering and future platform capabilities.
- Mentor senior engineers and cultivate a culture of technical excellence.

- Languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL

- Cloud and Infrastructure: AWS, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3, RDS, ElastiCache/Redis, Docker
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
- Monitoring: Datadog
- Architectural Patterns: Microservices, Distributed Systems, Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, Cloud-Native Applications
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in roles such as Software Architect, Technical Architect, Platform Architect, Principal or Staff Engineer, or Lead Software Engineer with architectural accountability.
- Strong background designing and delivering cloud-native SaaS platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of AWS architecture and cloud services.
- Expertise in distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- Deep understanding of modern software architecture patterns and engineering principles.
- Experience building highly available, resilient, scalable platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative, influential leadership style without requiring formal line management authority.
- A dedication to technology advancement and continuous process improvement.
