Key Responsibilities

• Proactively anticipate and resolve guest needs and inquiries ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
• Hold full responsibility for the safety, security, and comfort of all passengers and crew onboard the vessel.
• Lead, train, and supervise crew members and track their development.
• Maintain personal and crew uniforms along with standards of conduct and presentation.
• Prepare and ensure cleanliness of assigned vessel prior to departures and throughout operations.
• Navigate the boat safely and handle all navigational operations.
• Send distress signals and request shore assistance when necessary.
• React promptly and efficiently to emergency situations following prescribed duties.
• Maintain the vessel’s cleanliness internally and externally at all times.
• Manage all logbooks carefully, verifying all entries are accurate.
• Ensure all manifests are properly posted for every departure.
• Adhere to approved passage plans, documenting and explaining any deviations.
• Report unsafe acts or near misses to management immediately.
• Maintain proper levels of fresh water and fuel; oversee discharge of black water following safe practices.
• Enforce safety policies including no-smoking and environmental protection onboard.
• Notify Port Captain and relevant managers of any technical or equipment problems.
• Address passenger concerns efficiently and courteously.
• Ensure proper lashing and storage of passengers’ luggage and cargo.
• Check mooring ropes and berthing equipment are in good condition and report defects before departure.
• Coordinate with Coast Guard and other agencies as necessary.
• Safeguard all boat documents, including certificates, manuals, and registration cards.
• Report any crew shortages or absence.
• Conduct daily operational briefings with crew before duty begins.
• Verify operational functionality of fire panel and safety appliances (FFA and LSA).
• Communicate all operational information to the succeeding skipper and Port Captain at shift end.
• Operate various vessel types within the fleet, including IPS driven vessels.
• Participate in crew training sessions and drydocking procedures as directed.
• Respond to emergency sailing operations during heavy weather or restricted visibility only with Marine Operations Manager approval.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Master 500 certification with valid STCW and Radio License.
• Valid medical fitness certificate for sea duty.
• Between 2 and 5 years experience in a similar skipper role.
• Strong English communication capabilities.
• Proficient technical knowledge related to vessel operations.
• Pleasing and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work under pressure and effectively multitask.
