Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Site Reliability Engineer to enhance the durability and scalability of our widely distributed platform. This role entails combining expertise in distributed systems and strong software development skills to craft service level objectives (SLOs), lead incident management, and develop automation and self-healing capabilities. The position requires balancing immediate operational demands with strategic engineering for sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-call technical lead, managing critical incidents by initiating war rooms, directing cross-functional operations, and communicating clear updates.
• Implement instrumentation to collect high-cardinality metrics and distributed tracing data; collaborate with product teams to define and uphold SLOs and error budgets.
• Develop robust, production-grade code in Java, Go, or Python to create internal tools, automate processes, and enable autonomous system recovery, reducing manual intervention.
• Work closely with product engineering to embed reliability, scalability, and observability principles—like circuit breakers and fallback mechanisms—into new services from inception.
• Evaluate system performance and usage trends to forecast capacity requirements; execute load tests and chaos engineering exercises to ensure resilience under failure scenarios.

Requirements

• At least five years of relevant experience in site reliability or backend engineering, demonstrating proficiency in writing clean, efficient, and well-tested code using Java, Go, Rust, or Python.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems architectures, microservices, event-driven designs, and scalability principles.
• Hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform or comparable cloud services such as AWS or Azure; capable of managing Kubernetes production environments and debugging infrastructure issues.
• Experience developing observability frameworks using tools like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, New Relic, Datadog, or SigNoz to enhance system monitoring.
• Familiarity operating and optimizing high-throughput production databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and streaming systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
