Overview
Join a leading global financial institution as a Site Reliability Engineer II within the Payments Technology team of the Corporate and Investment Bank division. In this role, you will apply software engineering principles to enhance system reliability, collaborating across teams while managing independent projects to address business challenges using technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain critical payment services and cloud infrastructure to ensure continuous availability, resilience, performance, and stability.
- Drive excellence in production operations through proactive monitoring, incident and problem management, and ongoing service improvements.
- Utilize observability tools including Datadog and CloudWatch to identify, diagnose, and prevent problems affecting customers.
- Lead incident recovery activities, conduct root cause analyses, and implement lasting fixes to enhance platform dependability.
- Incorporate authorized enterprise AI technologies in the workplace to accelerate incident handling and post-incident evaluation, while adhering to data security protocols.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks and develop self-healing systems to reduce manual effort.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of payment transaction workflows to identify risks early and swiftly resolve production issues.
- Recognize operational toil and proactively reduce it by improving system engineering or modifying application code.
- Maintain and improve observability strategies, including service level indicators (SLIs), objectives (SLOs), monitoring, and alerting for enhanced transparency and analysis.
- Employ authorized AI tools to detect recurring toil and risks from operational data, prioritize improvements that encourage reuse, and meet measurable reliability targets.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or related fields.
- Minimum of two years formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
- Proficiency in programming with at least one coding language.
- Experience using enterprise-authorized AI for SRE functions such as troubleshooting and runbook development, with strong validation skills and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated operational advice for accuracy and risk, applying controls to maintain system resiliency, security, and audit compliance.
- Hands-on experience managing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Familiarity with site reliability engineering principles and practices.
- Expertise with observability and monitoring systems.
- Experience with AWS cloud services and integration with Datadog monitoring platform.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes.
- Basic understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and tooling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of public cloud platforms; AWS certification is advantageous.
- Experience in banking and payment systems including foreign exchange, high- and low-value payments, SWIFT, real-time payments, collections, check clearing, tax payments, and partner bank systems.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to build relationships across global teams.
- Capability to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently and adaptability to changing requirements.
