Role Purpose
The Shutdown Planner is responsible for executing all shutdown planning tasks, including interpreting shutdown scope, breaking it down into specific activities, coordinating shutdown efforts using advanced planning and scheduling techniques, and creating detailed shutdown schedules by collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Create resource-loaded shutdown schedules capturing all milestones, start and end dates.
- Identify critical paths and available float to prioritize activities effectively.
- Support progress monitoring and baseline adherence and ensure shutdown projects are recorded in the Enterprise Information System (EIS).
- Provide timely feedback on shutdown progress and alert the team about potential deviations or changes.
- Assist in reallocating resources and revising plans as needed to keep critical shutdown timelines intact.
- Work closely with the Shutdown Management Team to establish shutdown critical paths and necessary resources.
- Develop baseline schedules through collaborative planning sessions and incorporate contractors' schedules for comprehensive tracking.
- Generate and update S-curves for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction efforts based on schedules.
- Supervise contractor planning activities and prepare detailed shutdown, business unit consolidated, and resource plans.
- Produce regular status reports following the established reporting calendar and maintain tools to measure labour budgets, progress, and earned value.
- Ensure planning procedures, risk frameworks, and safety standards are strictly followed during shutdowns.
- Enforce formal approval processes for any baseline schedule changes and ensure compliance with change management procedures.
- Build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote operational excellence.
- Commit to continuous personal development and skills enhancement through completing and following personal development plans.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Grade 12 certificate including Mathematics and Science.
- Occupational Trade Qualification at NQF Level 4.
- At least 5 years of experience in maintenance, project, or shutdown planning environments.
