About the Company
Stobart, operating as part of the Culina Group, is a prominent ambient transportation and logistics provider serving many leading UK brands within the consumer and retail sectors. The company is seeking a dedicated Shunter to join its Northampton, Swan Valley facility on a full-time, permanent basis.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The work schedule follows a 4 days on, 4 days off pattern with shifts from 06:00 to 18:00. The annual salary for this position is £33,509, paid bi-weekly.
Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate timely trailer movements on and off loading bays and perform shunt loads between locations as instructed, adhering to company standards and operational needs.
- Conduct movements between depots as required.
- Position trailers accurately following instructions.
- Maintain communication with operational areas using two-way radios.
- Perform all necessary safety inspections as designated by the company.
- Immediately report any defects, damage from accidents, or incidents found.
- Ensure refrigeration units are maintained at temperatures suitable for the loaded products.
- Confirm refrigeration diesel tanks are adequately fueled at all times.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with colleagues.
- Report any speeding violations by drivers or subcontractors to the transport department.
- Maintain proper vehicle parking area layouts and report debris or related issues to site services.
- Uphold hygiene and housekeeping standards consistently in work areas.
- Comply with all Health & Safety legislation relevant to the role.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a full C+E driving license entitlement is mandatory.
- Previous experience in shunting operations.
- Ability to function effectively in a high-paced work environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to meet challenging deadlines under pressure.
- Self-discipline and motivation to work independently.
