About Firehouse Subs
Firehouse Subs is a vibrant restaurant chain founded in 1994 by brothers and former firefighters. Known for their flavorful, hearty sandwiches, the brand is deeply rooted in a commitment to excellent service and community support, including the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation that donates to lifesaving equipment. This franchise is independently owned and operated.
Role Overview
We are seeking dedicated Shift Leaders to oversee restaurant operations during shifts, ensuring team coordination and smooth functioning. This position is a hands-on leadership role where you will actively work alongside the team, coaching members, and maintaining high standards in service, food quality, and cleanliness. As Shift Leader, you must take initiative to solve issues and lead by example.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize team activities throughout the shift to maintain productivity.
- Work closely with team members to maintain pace and service quality.
- Deliver excellent customer service and promptly handle any guest concerns.
- Maintain standards related to speed, accuracy, food quality, and cleanliness.
- Train and coach team members continuously to improve skills.
- Address and resolve problems immediately without passing issues to the next shift.
- Make informed labor decisions based on sales and operational needs.
- Adhere to portion control to help manage food and operating costs.
- Handle opening, closing, cash management, and other shift-related duties accurately.
- Follow all Firehouse Subs policies and procedures strictly.
- Support the Public Safety Foundation initiatives actively.
- Communicate any significant issues to the General Manager.
- Contribute to building a welcoming restaurant environment that encourages repeat visits.
Candidate Profile
Reliability is crucial; being punctual and present for scheduled shifts is essential. Leaders must confidently direct and correct team members respectfully, demonstrating accountability. Urgency is expected as restaurants operate at a fast pace, requiring leaders to monitor progress and adjust as needed. Prior restaurant experience is preferred though not mandatory; however, dependability, eagerness to learn, leadership willingness, and a positive attitude are necessary.
Growth Opportunity
This role offers a pathway to advancement, with opportunities to progress to Assistant Manager and eventually General Manager by developing effective restaurant management skills.
Requirements
- Consistently reliable in attending scheduled shifts.
- Comfortable providing leadership and coaching to a team.
- Experience working efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant setting preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended durations during shifts.
- Capability to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
- Compliance with all Firehouse Subs policies, food safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly pay ranges from $18 to $21 plus tips. Employees receive complementary uniforms, health and vision insurance, opportunities for professional advancement, training, a 401(k) plan, and employee discounts.
