Role Overview
The Server, reporting to the Support Services Manager or their delegate, is responsible for delivering high-quality dining service to residents, guests, and the public in various settings including dining rooms, lounges, and room service within the community.
Responsibilities
- Prepare dining areas for service by setting tables, stocking items, and assisting with the preparation and serving of food and beverages.
- Perform general cleaning tasks including clearing tables, bussing, dish scrapping, and occasional dishwashing, adhering to company Infection Protection and Control policies.
- Create and maintain a pleasant dining environment that upholds residents' happiness, dignity, self-respect, and safety.
- Foster positive communication and relationships among staff, residents, and visitors.
- Execute housekeeping and laundry duties as needed.
- Participate in community programs and educational sessions.
- Respond appropriately to resident and building emergencies.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 10 education or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of experience working in a dining room setting is preferred.
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification.
- Serving It Right Certification, if applicable.
- WHMIS Certificate.
- Strong teamwork and collaborative abilities.
- Must pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check in compliance with Provincial standards.
- Proficiency in English for reading, writing, speaking, and understanding instructions.
- Capable of operating food service equipment efficiently.
- Physically fit, free from communicable diseases, allergies, or conditions worsened by exposure to cleaning agents and equipment.
Additional Information
- Position type: Full-time, permanent.
- Work schedule includes 35 hours weekly with rotating shifts, including weekend availability.
